The Beadle was responsible for assisting with divine service on Sundays, Good Friday, and other special services. They also attend the Vestry meetings and perform duties as instructed, including:
•Supervising the poor and ensuring the orders of the Vestry are carried out, both for individuals in need and for those in the workhouse.
•Delivering notices of meetings for the parish, charities, and various committees, as well as warrants of appointment for overseers and officers.
•Managing and delivering poor rates, parish rate books, and other related documents to parish officers and magistrates for signatures.
•Executing summonses and warrants for levying church, poor, and highway rates.
•Reporting to the Select Vestry at each meeting with an account of all monies handled on the parish’s behalf.
•Transporting paupers as directed by parish orders.
